ALL ABOUT BEEF

It was the summer of 2015 and Beef Gordon found himself back at his father’s house in upstate New York. Beef was tan, sober, and twenty pounds under weight. The events of the past six months flashed through his head like a low budget action movie. He could barely remember how it started.

It started in a thousand square foot loft he shared with four other people in Bushwick, Brooklyn. His dog crate of a bedroom was about five foot eight inches tall, while Beef stood a solid six feet, luckily there was enough room to lay down. It was a Friday night in January and he received a call from his employer stating that the safe count was off by a few thousand dollars and that he needed to come in immediately. To make matters worse, no one had seen Billy Ray since Beef had an argument with him two days prior. Beef said he’d be in right away.

After he got off the phone, Beef pulled out the duffle bag he had hidden under his bed. The money was still there and his passport still had a year left before it expired. He gathered a few valuables and left the apartment with out saying goodbye. Out on the street he pulled off the parking ticket on his beige Toyota Corolla, unscrewed the license plates and switched them with the car parked in front of him. Beef was in DC by sunrise and across the Mexican border seven days later…

As Beef looked out the window of his father’s house onto the lush green yard, he pulled out the Casiotone MT-68 his mother had reluctantly given him when he visited her earlier. Beef hit the “disco” setting and started humming his favorite song, Macho Man. It was another six months before his first record, Queen Shade & Etc, would be recorded on GarageBand. Since then Beef has went on to record a prolific amount of songs, perform throughout the north eastern United States and Europe. Beef’s lyrical prowess has remained unrivaled in the years since.
